Principle white wine of Burgundy and Champagne provinces – French origin. May well be the world’s best known wine grape variety. In proficient wine maker hands, Chardonnay can reach supreme levels of taste and smell, resembling peach, apricot, fig, lime, honey, custard apple. Furthermore, wooded Chardonnay, fermented in barrels will resemble vanilla, coconut, caramel and buttery texture. Pinot Noir has become a traditional blend partner with this fine wine. This wine is best served fifteen to twenty minutes after refrigeration. It is also recommended that this wine be served with dishes which do not overpower the delicate taste sensation of this wine. Instances of these dishes include chicken, chicken salad, Caesar salad, sea food such as prawns, crabs etc. Foods such as Malaysian, Thai and Indian may overpower this wine. Some of the world’s most famous and best Chardonnay comes from Australia, NSW, South Australia and Victoria are excellent Chardonnay growing regions. As Chardonnay is a very common wine its average cost is significantly lower than that of other wines. It must be noted, however, that this wine has a very short cellaring potential, and should be drunk when fresh, typically more expensive Chardonnay, from cooler regions, exhibits longer cellaring periods.
