Chenin Blanc is a white grape variety which makes an exceptional range of wine styles ranging from dry through to medium sweet, to ravishingly liquorish. A great deal of sparkling wine is made from this grape. The Touraine province and wine region in Loire Valley France, produces classic rich Chenin Blanc wines. Australia makes a comparably small amount of Chenin Blanc in relation to France, as does New Zealand, however, Margaret River and the Perth Hills are excellent sources for fine Chenin Blanc. Honeydew and cantaloupe melon aromas are typically well balanced in Chenin Blanc wine which adds a degree of musk to the palate. Chenin Blanc is complemented well with seafood and seafood salad, as well as light pasta dishes.
