Strawberry

One of the world’s most widely planted grape varieties. This wine is popular in Spain and France, where it is grown in the Rhone Valley most predominantly. In Australia, this wine has gained much popularity, particularly with young wine lovers. Grenache is usually used as part of a blend to produce entry level wine. Grenache is a very versatile wine which can produce a wide range of wine styles, from fluid, peppery, dry reds to thickly rich, fortified wines.
In South Australaia, Grenache wines possess a distinct white peppery aroma, among with the smells and flavours of raspberry, liquorice, aniseed, and a sweet, warm and mouth filling power.
We recommend Grenache wines which have not been aged in new oak barrels, in order to maintain the gentle Grenache taste. In fortified styles of wine, Grenache, adds a wonderful fruity sweetness.
Fortified Grenache was popular due to its ability to maintain high sugar levels, which provided the wine with a higher alcohol content.
Clare Valley, Barossa Valey, McLaren Valley (SA), and Svan district (WA)  are ideal for Grenache. Blends such as GSM, SGM and MGS represent the different proportions of Grenache, Merlot and Shiraz. This wine is best drunk when it is still young and fresh. Grenache does not have a great cellaring potential. This is due to the fact that Grenache oxidizes quickly, which, in turn means that the wine ages rapidly.
Grenache is easy to drink with a decent hamburger, sausages or lamb chops straight from the BBQ. Grenache also goes well with salads and sea food, however, full bodied blends may be eaten with beef pies, stake and roast.
